The Wound - for Orchestra (2018)
Duration: 6'00''
Program Note:
The Wound is a piece which interrogates the relationship between the soloist and the entirety of an orchestra within the context of its tradition. It is a metaphorical representation of the relationship between the individual and authority. Creating this work was a psychotherapeutic process on the self. However, it is not only an individual’s trauma which is expressed, but also a reflection of the common wound of the world at this time.

It‘s not only about the protest that I want to enter, instead of bandaging the wound, my purpose is not my own trauma, I actually care about curing the knife, the system, the violence itself.
And when narratives come to a dead end, there is poetry.

The Wound : The Orchestra
( Joseph Beuys, When You Cut Your Finger, Bandage the Knife )
All my orchestra works share the same title “The Wound“, differed from the years they are composed, starting from “The Wound (2018)“, I will and I can only write for this title and subject in this life, they are independent ones as my time mark, yet together they add up and grow as one orchestra piece in whole: my orchestra piece. In this way, I transform orchestra: the most public music form into a most private life experience.
