debt down the throat (2024) - for Bullet inside Flute
Duration: 5'34''
Program Note: all the voices, filtered, distorted, deprived by war, are the debt we owe humanity
When we blow into the flute, we create sound and airflow simultaneously, just as violence and its opposite are both products of humanity.
I placed a cartridge case, representing a bullet, at the end of the foot section inside the flute to filter the air. The filtered intensity of the airstream is then detected by a sensor, which is used as the parameter to trigger and distort electronic sound, including a gunshot sound sample recorded from war, and to process recorded and amplified flute sound.
